Nails pull in ugly, guttural influence from realms like death metal and grindcore, but they remain fully rooted in hardcore, and that really comes through on their two new songs.
In 2024, Nails returned from a long hiatus when Todd Jones put together a new lineup for the band and they dropped the monstrous return album Every Bridge Burning . Last month, Jones' old band Carry On got back together to play what looked like an epic Sound And Fury set , and he also won HardLore 's Hardcore Jeopardy . Now, Nails have signed with Closed Casket Activities, and they've got a truly nasty new two-song single.
The new Nails tracks "Dollar Bin Generation" and "Fear Based Life" are fast, heavy, frantic, and absolutely suffused with fury. They don't have the chaotic structure of lots of old Nails songs, though. Instead, they play out as real-deal hardcore songs, complete with mosh parts. I can only imagine what kind of bedlam will ensue when they play these ones live. Listen below.
