West Ham claimed their first Women's Super League win of the season with a 2-1 home victory over London City Lionesses.

Kelly Gago put the Hammers ahead after 21 minutes, racing onto Seraina Piubel's pass from near halfway before rounding City goalkeeper Elene Lete.

Viviane Asseyi scored a similar goal three minutes after the break after being released by Riko Ueki, running clear from 40 yards out before firing home.

London City set up a frantic finish after Danielle van de Donk's clever back heel crept in at the near post 14 minutes from time.

But the Lionesses struggled to reproduce the fluency that had seen them overcome Manchester United on the opening weekend.
