Which Vienna public transport lines change from Monday?

Passengers in northern Vienna face several route changes from September 14th as autumn construction work begins, including diversions on three tram lines and a one-way closure at a U6 station.

Passengers in northern Vienna face several route changes from September 14th as autumn construction work begins, including diversions on three tram lines and a one-way closure at a U6 station.

Several Vienna public transport routes will change from Monday, September 14th, with some of the biggest disruption affecting commuters in Floridsdorf and Donaustadt.

The changes involve tram lines 25, 26 and 27, a new replacement bus service and the U6 station Neue Donau.

According to Wiener Linien , the restrictions are part of autumn construction work that will continue in several parts of the city over the coming months.

Work is under way to replace around 1.1 kilometres of tram track along Donaufelder Straße in Floridsdorf.

From September 14th, lines 25, 26 and 27 will no longer run between Josef-Baumann-Gasse and Floridsdorf. Instead, all three will operate on changed routes:

Line 25 will run from Aspern, Oberdorfstraße to Josef-Baumann-Gasse, before continuing along the route normally served by line 27 to Aspern Nord.

Line 26 will run between Hausfeldstraße and Kagran via Josef-Baumann-Gasse.

Line 27 will be shortened and operate only between Strebersdorf and Floridsdorf.

A replacement bus, the 26E, will connect Floridsdorf with Josef-Baumann-Gasse while the section is closed.

The altered Wiener Linien timetables are already available and apply from September 14th. The construction work on Donaufelder Straße is expected to continue until the end of the year.

From September 14th until approximately the end of 2026, U6 trains travelling towards Floridsdorf will not stop at Neue Donau while Wiener Linien renovates the platform.

Trains heading in the opposite direction, towards Siebenhirten, will continue to stop at Neue Donau as normal.

Passengers travelling towards Floridsdorf who need Neue Donau can continue to Floridsdorf and take a U6 train back in the opposite direction, according to Wiener Linien's construction information .

From September 21st until October 31st, tram line 49 will be suspended because trams cannot operate between Hütteldorfer Straße and Schweglerstraße during track works in the 15th district.

Lines 46 and 52 will be extended to cover parts of the route, while line 9 and the U3 can also be used as alternatives.

Wiener Linien recommends checking individual journeys in the WienMobil app or online before travelling and allowing some extra time while the construction measures are in place.
