Alongside the tour announcement, Death Cab has shared a new video for “Stone Over Water,” the latest single from I Built You a Tower . The band describes the song as being for anyone who has tried to convince themselves, and everyone else, that they’re fine when they are very much not.
Created and directed by musician and animator Sean Solomon, the clip uses slapstick cartoon humor to offset the song’s emotional weight. Inspired by cartoonists such as Sergio Aragonés ( MAD ), Solomon centers the video on a little character having a difficult day, ultimately turning its melancholy into a message about empathy and the possibility of finding relief by helping others.
