Turkish Airlines orders 150 Boeing 737 MAX jets in major new deal
Turkish Airlines said on Wednesday it was to buy 150 jets from Boeing that would be scheduled for delivery between 2033 and 2037.
The Turkish national carrier said in a statement that it had "decided to purchase a total of 150 aircraft from Boeing" consisting of a firm order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX jets and an option for 50 more.
The move was announced as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was in New York a day after he met US President Donald Trump alongside Middle Eastern leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Trump declared it was a "big day for Boeing and American manufacturing" in a post on his Truth Social platform that also cited Bangladesh's plan to buy more Boeing planes.
He said it would amount to tens of billions of dollars in sales and support tens of thousands of American jobs.
The announcement came almost exactly a year after the airline said it was buying another 225 Boeing jets following talks at the White House between Erdogan and Trump.
Based at Istanbul Airport, the carrier has a fleet of 514 aircraft and flies to over 130 countries, carrying 92.6 million passengers in 2025, according to figures on its website.
