Something In The Way 2027 Has JAMC, Turnover, Wednesday, TUI, More

The Jesus And Mary Chain and Trapped Under Ice are playing the same show. That's fucking awesome. For the past few years, the people at Run For Cover Records have worked together to put on Something In The Way , an extremely cool annual Boston festival that brings together different strains of cool-as-hell guitar music. This year's edition , for instance, had Sunny Day Real Estate and Explosions In The Sky as headliners. For next year's fest, the planners of Something In The Way have outdone themselves, putting together a really great lineup.

Glasgow romantic-noise pioneers JAMC and trendsetting Baltimore hardcore head-busters TUI will headline next year's Something In The Way alongside Turnover and Wednesday, four distinct flavors that should be absolutely delicious together. The fest comes to Boston's Roadrunner Feb. 4-6, and the undercard is just as impressive. Fellow legends Meat Puppets, Jejune, and Krill will also play the fest, as will This Is Lorelei, Incendiary, Nothing, Model/Actriz, Gouge Away, YHWH Nailgun, Armlock, Knumears, Trauma Ray, Wellness, Racecourse, Holder, and Dream Fatigue. That's a set of names that encompasses indie rock, showgaze, hardcore, post-hardcore, emo, screamo, and the many places where those things all overlap.

A pre-show at the Sinclair will have Modern Baseball's Bren Lukens playing solo, alongside Georgia Maq and a career-spanning acoustic set from Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. There's an after-show, too, but they're keeping that bill secret for now. It takes a lot for me to even consider the possibility of visiting Boston in February, but I have to say I'm tempted.
