Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg among 31 guests at Trump’s AI lunch

Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg are joining other business leaders at the White House on Tuesday for a lunch event on artificial intelligence.

The event will be hosted by President Donald Trump, together with Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House. Thirty-one people have confirmed their attendance, according to an RSVP list obtained by Axios .

The tech guests are also Jensen Huang from Nvidia, Satya Nadella from Microsoft, Sundar Pichai from Alphabet, Lisa Su from AMD, Hock Tan from Broadcom, Dario Amodei from Anthropic, and Alex Karp from CNBC.

Greg Brockman, president of OpenAI, will represent the company. Sam Altman, however, is attending the annual conference at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco.

“The main issue that you have and I have is we have to take responsibility for the dangers we’re aware of,” Palantir CEO Alex Karp told CNBC outside the White House on Tuesday

The administration is sending a large team, including Vice President JD Vance; cabinet members Scott Bessent and Howard Lutnick; chief of staff Susie Wiles; Jared Isaacman, head of NASA; and David Sacks, Trump’s former adviser on AI.

There is increasing pressure for AI regulations, with both Amodei and Altman calling for greater government oversight in recent weeks, and Amodei having had a private dinner with Trump on Sunday.

Furthermore, AI agents from both companies have been found to break into external systems, including an OpenAI agent that accessed Australia’s Medicare portal .

On Tuesday, other researchers, such as Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio, also cautioned about the possibility of an intelligence explosion , in which AI accelerates its own development.

Trump has treated those doomsday warnings as a hoax. Since he wishes to keep the United States ahead of China, his administration favors allowing the industry to set its own guidelines, Axios reported.

Johnson has adopted an identical approach, stating that the United States should neither suspend its AI efforts nor subject them to excessive regulation.

According to NBC, Senate Majority Leader John Thune merely expressed hope that the meeting would be productive. Axios anticipates that there will be few definite proposals regarding regulation.

Americans appear to be more concerned than the White House. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted this month, 73% of Americans said AI companies had not done enough to prevent serious harm, and more than half said slowing down AI would be a good idea.

At present, the US checks on the most advanced AI models are voluntary. According to an executive order Trump signed in June, developers are requested to allow the government to review these models before sharing them with trusted partners, with a review period of up to 30 days.

Before lunch, Trump launched America.gov , an AI-powered website and chatbot designed to help people find federal services, at an event a few blocks from the White House; a White House official called it a single point of entry to the federal government.

The National Design Studio was the firm that carried out the site’s construction, with Joe Gebbia, head of the agency, who had been in operation for a year and co-founded Airbnb.
