Victoryland, the project of songwriter Julian McCamman and producer Dan Howard, have announced their signing to Dead Oceans, a deluxe version of their album My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It , and shared new single "The Ugliest Girl On The Beach".
McCamman and Howard first came together as Victoryland in 2023 before releasing their debut album, Sprain, in 2024. My Heart Is A Room With No Cameras In It followed earlier this year, with the songs described as a blend of a "radio-friendly hit with the distortion and rough edges of a home demo". Alongside the announcement of their signing, Victoryland share previously unreleased track "The Ugliest Girl On The Beach", which is featured on the deluxe album.
"Sinking into the hot sand and watching the two blue lovers trying to kiss, forever caught in their parallel hell, I refused the barrier between me and nature," McCamman says of the song. "I'm still there, still trying for the answer: who am I when I'm alone?"
The album tackles heavier topics of love, disconnection, sexual frustration, and emptiness, but at its core honours the cleansing nature of pop music. In addition to the deluxe release, Victoryland are looking ahead to performances at Pitchfork London, Pitchfork Paris and other European festivals, following sold-out shows in New York City and a support slot with LCD Soundsystem on their North American tour.
