A Super League Grand Final week is special for anyone but it is a uniquely special moment for Jack Sinfield.

Sinfield is the son of Sir Kevin Sinfield MBE who is in the middle of his latest gruelling running endeavour, running seven ultra marathons in seven days stopping at all 12 English Super League clubs along the way.

Kevin Sinfield has helped raise more than £11m for the MND community with his team since his first annual challenge in 2020.

He will finish his final challenge by coming out to onto the Old Trafford pitch and delivering the match ball with his son, Jack, who will be gearing up to play in his first ever Super League final.

Wakefield take on Warrington Wolves to make history and become the sixth-ever Super League winner, live on Sky Sports on Saturday October 3.

All at once, the Wakefield man will have overwhelming pride in his dad, the nerves of the biggest moment of his career, and the pressure of trying to emulate all the wins on that hallowed turf that his dad pulled off with Leeds.

Jack Sinfield has been missing his dad while he has been away and knows you could not write the outcome that has happened with their journeys colliding at the Theatre of Dreams.

"I've spoke to him (dad) a little bit, but obviously he's been really tired. I think I've said already that when he planned this last challenge and for it to finish at Old Trafford, I don't think even he could have imagined that I would be playing in it. So it's worked out pretty well," Jack Sinfield said.

"It was really nice to see him. I've obviously missed him a lot when he's been away because I'm still living at home, so it's really weird around the house without him.

"I'm hoping I'll see him on Thursday when he goes past home and he runs up near our neck of the woods."

Old Trafford is not a new place to Jack as he spent his childhood watching his dad, the Leeds Rhinos legend win the Super League on seven occasions.

He has cherished memories of his dad's career highlights and now knows it is his moment to try and "emulate" him.

"My first ever rugby league game was the 2004 Grand Final when I was three weeks old. I have been to every single one of the Grand Finals my dad has played in but the last one really stands out in 2015," he added.

"I had just turned 11 then so that's the one I really remember the most, knowing it was his last game as well. Obviously it was really emotional for us all as a family and that's the main memory I have that really sticks out, especially with it being the game where Leeds won the treble.

"I didn't realise how stressful it was trying to sort tickets, I've seen my dad do it for years. The last two days have been carnage trying to sort everything out. But it's worth it, these are the games you want to be playing in, so it's all worth it.

"It's been a dream of mine to go there one day and emulate him and win one. But now it's here, it's definitely feeling a bit different.

"I've got that picture on my phone still. It was a pretty special moment - hopefully there will be a chance to have another picture this weekend.. I'd want him to have a shower first though."

Indeed, the player of the match award is now called the Rob Burrow Award. Imagine the fairy tale if Sinfield senior watches his son win the trophy named after his mate who has inspired all the charity work he has taken on. Who inspired a sport. Who inspired a nation.

The Super League Grand Final takes place at Old Trafford on Saturday October 3, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports+ .

The match will take place at 6pm, with coverage on Sky Sports from 5pm.
