Kid Rock Announces Christian Music Album Featuring Eminem Collaboration

Kid Rock has announced a new Christian music album titled Halfway to Jesus , and has unleashed the single “James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)” ahead of the LP’s October 17th release.

The 17-song album features fellow Detroit-area artist Eminem, who guests on the song “7 Sins,” as well as country singers Gary LeVox (Rascal Flatts) and Jimmie Allen on the track “Halfway 2 Jesus.”

The single “James 1:17” sounds a helluva lot like the Kenny Rogers hit “The Gambler,” although it’s unclear if it’s an intentional nod to the 1978 song.

The final track on the album is “God Bless the USA,” which is presumably a cover of the Lee Greenwood anthem. Meanwhile, the album artwork literally shows Kid Rock halfway to Jesus, with the devil at his back.

In August, Kid Rock told Fox & Friends of making a Christian music album, “Growing up Catholic and going to Catholic church, I was always like, ‘I have to confess this is boring. This music is terrible. And I’d go to Baptist churches and non-denominals just looking for the music that I wanted to hear and there’s some good stuff, but it was always a little bit of this dark place.”

He added, “So I decided to write the songs that I kind of wanted to celebrate Jesus and my faith with, which are rock ‘n’ roll, country, hip-hop.”
