Battersea's Bentley takes on quality American middleweight Shane Mosley Jr on the loaded ZUFFA BOXING 12 bill headlined by Chris Billam-Smith vs Cheavon Clarke.

Bentley is a world-class middleweight who became the WBO champion after his tough victory over Endry Saavedra at London's O2 arena in April.

In a hard-fought battle with Saavedra, Bentley came back to take out the dangerous Venezuelan with a strong seventh-round finish.

That saw him win the WBO Interim title which was later upgraded to full world championship.

Bentley has had to battle his way through adversity. A former British champion, he lost his first world title fight when he challenged Zhanibek Alimkhanuly. He then bounced back from a surprise loss to Nathan Heaney, beating Danny Dignum, Derrick Osaze and Brad Pauls to set himself up for the Saavedra bout.

"That's an achievement ticked off, that's one of my goals. I can leave the sport knowing that I was a world champion. But now it's time to try and achieve more and raise my potential. I don't think many people tipped me to be a world champion when I first started," Bentley told Sky Sports .

"I didn't really know if I could even get a chance to compete for one rather than actually win one.

"It's the highest accolade in the sport so you have to do a lot to get there but I just bit down and went through the process and made it there."

Mosley Jr is the son of boxing legend Shane Mosley. He is also coming off an outstanding win in his last fight when he halted strong Ukrainian fighter Serhii Bohachuk in six rounds in Las Vegas.

The American has fought at the highest level, beating former world champion Daniel Jacobs and missing out on the WBC Interim title when he boxed Jesus Alejandro Ramos last year.

British rivals Billam-Smith and Clarke clash in the headline event of ZUFFA BOXING 12 at the Copper Box Arena in London.

London-born cruiserweight prospect Lucas Roehrig, 9-0 (5), will fight Scotland's Connal McDonald, 5-1 (1), in an eight-rounder.

Scottish middleweight phenom Sam Hickey, 6-0 (3), aims for his third consecutive knockout win when he steps up against Troy "The Hawk" Coleman, 15-5-1 (7), in an eight-rounder. Hickey is coming off a scintillating seventh-round stoppage over Brad Axe at Zuffa Boxing 10 in Dublin.

American heavyweight destroyer Da'Mazion Vanhouter, 13-0 (10), makes his UK debut against the big-hitting Ivan Balaz, 9-1 (7) in an eight-rounder. The 21-year-old has six first-round knockouts in his last seven outings.

Super-lightweight star Kayla Allen turned pro last Saturday at Copper Box Arena and her second professional fight will take place in the same venue against an opponent to be named in a six-rounder.

Additional information on the event will be announced in the coming weeks.

There will be intriguing possibilities for the Bentley-Mosley Jr victor. Aaron McKenna laid down a marker for the middleweight division when he beat Etinosa Oliha to win the IBF title.

Bentley can consider McKenna a future target, if he comes through his November 7 clash with Mosley Jr.

"I think me and Aaron, the winner of that will be the No 1 in the division," Bentley said.

"If we are the ones making a noise in this division, you can't help make the winner of that fight No 1, rather than looking at [Carlos] Adames or [Erislandy] Lara and looking at their past performances and what they've done in the past and using that to make them No 1.
