Paul McCartney won’t be sending any holiday cards to Larry David ’s house this December it appears, and the Curb Your Enthusiasm star can no longer expect any invitations from the former Beatle to his concerts if he’s to be taken at his word.
Maybe it’s a joke or maybe it’s a case of performance becoming reality, but David may have made things awkward and ended up on the bad side of McCartney as he revealed on the guest seat of Friday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kimmel asked McCartney about David not singing along to “Hey Jude” at a small show in Los Angeles earlier this year.
Jimmy Kimmel: “The last time I saw you was in March in Los Angeles. You did a very intimate show at the Fonda Theatre, 1,200 seats. It was a fantastic show, and I was struck by a number of things. And one of them was something actually we discussed on the show; I don’t know if you’re aware of this.
Kimmel: “Larry actually complained to me, because when you sang ‘Hey Jude,’ you encouraged everybody to sing ‘Na, na, na, na.’ And Larry looked over at me, and I was singing along, whereas he was just sitting there like this, and refused to sing.”
McCartney: “Yeah, I know. I know. I talked to him about it, afterwards. I said, ‘But how come, Larry?’ He said, ‘I didn’t want to do it.’ So, he didn’t do it.”
In June, David gave a very Larry David explanation of why he wasn’t singing along at the McCartney show while he was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
McCartney’s October 2nd appearance was part of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! takeover of Brooklyn .
