The Comet Is Coming Announce 10th Anniversary Edition Of Channel The Spirits: Hear The Previously Unreleased “Lost Party Jam 2”

The experimental London jazz trio helped define a moment and released three adventurous albums and a handful of EPs before breaking up in 2023. They canceled what would've been their final show out of solidarity with Palestinian people, since it would've fallen on the day of a one-day global strike called for by Jewish Voice For Peace. Since their breakup, leader Shabaka has thrived as a solo artist. Now, Channel The Spirits , the trio's full-length debut, is about to get a 10th-anniversary reissue with previously unreleased tracks.

Next month, the Leaf Label will release the three-LP box set known as Exploding In Slow Motion: The Complete Channel The Spirits Recordings 2013-2017CE . It'll include the original album, the Prophecy and Death To The Planet EPs, various rarities from that period of the group's history, and four previously unreleased tracks. One of those songs, "Late Night Party Jam 2," hits the internet today. It's a 2013 recording of an instrumental that combines ecstatic saxophones with rigorous, militaristic dance-punk keyboard action, and it still sounds futuristic today. Check it out below.

Exploding In Slow Motion: The Complete Channel The Spirits Recordings 2013-2017CE is out 11/20 on the Leaf Label. Pre-order it here .
