Lana Del Rey has been threatening to go country for several years now, and it hasn't quite happened yet. At a 2024 pre-Grammy party, Del Rey announced plans for a country album, which was going to be called Lasso . Since then, she's released a few singles, and she also sang about kissing Morgan Wallen on a still-unreleased song that she debuted at the country-centric Stagecoach Festival last year. Her country album, which still hasn't come out, has gone through a few titles, is now going to be called Stove . Del Rey says that it's still coming and that it may have a companion album . Last month, she teased a Zach Bryan collab . Now, she's getting together with Wallen and her alligator tour-guide husband to host the in-game country radio station in the hotly anticipated blockbuster game Grand Theft Auto VI .
GTA VI will finally come out next month, as will an expansive all-star soundtrack album. Last month, Rockstar Games shared six songs from that soundtrack, including a new Morgan Wallen track, "Last Thing You Need," that debuted at #9 on the Hot 100. Today, the Rockstar people shared the details of the six in-game radio stations that you'll be able to blast while you're driving around and committing crimes. One of them is called Back Country Radio, and its hosts are Morgan Wallen as MW, Lana Del Rey as Delta Dawne, and Del Rey's husband Jeremy Dufrene as "Delta’s not-so-secret lover Mud Dog Mike." Del Rey teased the announcement on her Instagram Story yesterday.
A press release mentions some of the songs that'll play on all of its stations, and the Back Country Radio selections are a trio of classics: David Allan Coe's "Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior," Loretta Lynn's "Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind)," and the Hank Williams, Jr./Waylon Jennings duet "The Conversation." You can hear a preview here .
Plenty of other big names will be involved in the other stations. Bad Bunny and RaiNao will host the Latin station Cocoteo FM. The contemporary African station AfroBank FM has Burna Boy and Palms Trax as its DJs. Slayer's Kerry King and Tom Araya will host the metal station The Chamber 106.6. Robyn and the model Alex Consani will run the pop station Flash FM. There's also a self-explanator station called Dirty South Classics with Trick Daddy and Trina, and that's going to be my default. Preview all those stations here .
Grand Theft Auto VI is out 11/19, but you probably already knew that.
