Adam Idah made up for three near misses in the first half to head Swansea , the Championship leaders, to a 2-1 home win over Norwich . The Republic of Ireland striker scored with a glancing header in the 59th minute to complete his side’s comeback after falling behind to Jacob Wright’s goal in the first half.
Joseph Opoku gave Idah a great chance to add to his three goals this season in the 22nd minute after winning the ball on halfway and driving to the Norwich area. Idah took a heavy touch from what looked to be a scoring pass and Vladan Kovacevic saved.
Norwich were quick on the counterattack and a great cross from the left forced Stephen Welsh to head over from under the Swansea bar to concede a corner.
The corner was cleared but Andre Brooks and Oscar Schwartau combined to rob Welsh of the ball and Schwartau passed across the area for Wright to score in the 28th minute. Idah had two more chances to level matters before the break, but again Kovacevic was up to the mark to deny him.
It took Swansea four minutes after the restart to get back on level terms when Yeo made it three goals in three games. Some neat interplay on the left touchline freed Josh Tymon and his cross was missed at the near post by Idah before being converted at the back post by Yeo.
The winner came just before the hour as Idah headed home from an inch-perfect cross from Melker Widell.
Norwich had two good chances in the dying minutes but Lawrence Vigouroux saved Sam Field’s shot and then saw Jovon Makama head over the bar from five yards out.
West Brom ’s defender Nat Phillips was at fault for the second successive derby as Birmingham won 1-0 at The Hawthorns. Phillips, whose back pass let in Fer Lopez in the 1-0 loss to Wolves last time out, gave away a 41st-minute penalty scored by August Priske.
Phillips caught the forward in the air with a clumsy challenge from a cross and Priske side-footed the penalty high to Max O’Leary’s left for his second championship goal of the season. The result leaves the sides level on 14 points.
Bristol City ’s Sam Tickle pulled off two big saves in the second half to extend Charlton ’s winless run in the Championship to six matches after a 1-1 draw at The Valley.
Charlton took the lead through Karlan Grant’s second goal of the campaign in the eighth minute, but that was wiped out before the interval by Scott Twine.
