Belgian-Moroccan artist, DJ, and producer Zaatar continues to carve out a distinctive space at the intersection of EBM, new beat, and post-punk with “Bahnsteigkante,” a striking experiment that fuses the grit of rock with the pulse of electronic music. Based in France, Zaatar draws from the darker sounds of the late ’80s and early ’90s, channeling their rebellious spirit into a contemporary sonic identity that feels both raw and meticulously crafted.

Built around hard-hitting rock percussion and an intentionally electronic vocoder, “Bahnsteigkante” thrives on contrast, balancing the physical intensity of live instrumentation with the mechanical edge of electronic production. The song is a bold hybrid that embraces distortion, dark textures, and an uncompromising rhythmic drive. Zaatar leans into tension, allowing the track’s rough-hewn energy and electronic elements to collide to create a visceral and deliberately unconventional sound.

Zaatar has steadily established herself as an artist with a clear creative vision. Her 2025 EP, The Sound of Z , further explored the sounds and aesthetics that inform her work, while her performances across Europe and beyond have cemented her connection to underground club culture. With “Bahnsteigkante,” she continues to push those boundaries, bringing the raw attitude of post-punk into dialogue with the hypnotic force of the dance floor. It’s a compelling showcase of an artist unafraid to experiment, finding its power in the friction between rock’s visceral edge and electronic music’s relentless pulse. The song is the latest off of renegade label Breathing Records new compilation Inhale Vol. II .
