France sees hottest day on record Wednesday

France on Wednesday experienced its hottest day since measurements began in 1947, the national weather agency said, breaking a record set just a day earlier. More than 50 departments across mainland France recorded temperatures of 40C or higher since the latest heatwave began on June 17, an AFP analysis of weather data showed Wednesday.
