Beyond oil: The Sectors shaping this country’s economic future

Azerbaijan is seeking to diversify its economy through manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, tourism and renewable energy, while attracting new international investment.

Reducing dependence on oil remains a key part of Azerbaijan’s economic strategy, with growth opportunities spanning manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, tourism and renewable energy. Industrial zones and new business initiatives are helping expand production and exports, while digital transformation is opening further opportunities.

Speaking on Business Horizons, Yasin Jalilov, Deputy Director of Azerbaijan Business Development Fund (ABDF) highlighted economic stability and diversification as advantages for investors, pointing to sectors such as agro-food processing, green energy and pharmaceuticals.

ADBF aims to simplify access to support for entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, sales at Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park exceeded €572 million in the first half of 2025, including nearly €283 million in exports. Agricultural and agro-industrial exports also rose by almost 23% between January and July 2026.
