Salesforce has agreed to buy Rune Technologies. The US startup’s AI software helps the military plan supplies near the front line. Salesforce announced the deal on Thursday. Rune will join Missionforce, the defence business Salesforce launched a year ago.

Salesforce did not disclose the price. It is paying $375m in cash and shares, Margaux MacColl reported for Resilience Media . She cited two sources familiar with the matter. TNW has not independently verified the figure.

“Salesforce is doubling down on national security with our most significant acquisition in this space.” Kendall Collins, chief executive of Missionforce and Government Cloud, in Salesforce’s announcement

David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough founded Rune in 2024, after leadership roles at Anduril. Its software, TyrOS, forecasts what frontline units will need and suggests how to share out resources and route transport. It keeps working with little or no network connection and syncs when the network returns.

The US Army and Marine Corps already use it, Salesforce said. In June, the Army awarded Rune a $99m contract for TyrOS, according to the Pentagon’s contract notice . The Army received only one bid.

Rune has raised $30m. Its investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures and IQT, formerly called In-Q-Tel, according to Resilience Media. One of its sources put Rune’s last valuation at $134m.

“With Salesforce, we can take what we’ve built further, connecting operational logistics from the frontline to the enterprise.” David Tuttle, Rune’s chief executive

Salesforce said its defence business is growing 80% a year, with customers in all six branches of the US military. It also cited a 10-year Army contract with a $5.6bn ceiling. Salesforce describes Missionforce as the system of record at headquarters, and says Rune adds the frontline layer.

The company frames Rune’s tools as “super intelligence”, the label behind its recent SIForce rebrand . On 20 October, Salesforce agreed to buy marketing platform Braze for about $5.7bn. It also completed its Fin acquisition in September.

Salesforce expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter of its 2027 fiscal year.
