Lifeguards from Trygfonden are warning parents to keep a close eye on their children this summer, as lifeguards have spent a lot of time during recent heatwaves reuniting children with their parents.
Lifeguards from Trygfonden are warning parents to keep a close eye on their children this summer, as lifeguards have spent a lot of time during recent heatwaves reuniting children with their parents.
"Kids disappear very quickly when beaches are busy," said Anders Myrhøj, head of coastal lifeguards at Trygfonden, wrote in a press statement.
"Our lifeguards are spending a lot of time reuniting parents or other adults with their children."
Last week, there were a number of incidents where lifeguards had to help children find their parents, Trygfonden said, including a so-called "lifesaving action" where a child was in life-threatening danger.
Myrhøj added that its important to keep track of your children, even if they know how to swim, and that it is a fairly easy way to avoid unpleasant or potentially dangerous situations.
"Unfortunately there are also some parents who are generally not attentive enough," he said, adding that parents and grandparents should put their phones away and get into the water with their children.
Trygfonden's coastal lifeguard towers will be manned until August 19th, and they are located at 34 different beaches and harbour baths.
