Train traffic between Stockholm and Gothenburg still at a standstill

Train traffic has been stalled between Stockholm and Gothenburg since 6:25 this morning due to a train driver running a red light.

Train traffic has been stalled between Stockholm and Gothenburg since 6:25 this morning due to a train driver running a red light.

One of five railway tracks between Gothenburg and Stockholm is still closed to traffic.

"In the event of a so-called unauthorized passage, that is, when a driver runs a red light, we have to replace that driver as standard. This means that the train will be at a standstill until we get a new driver," said Angelica Knutsson, press communicator at the Swedish Transport Administration.

The result has been delays in train traffic due to track shortages, but Knutsson cannot answer how many departures will be affected.

At 10 o'clock a new driver arrived in place, and the track could be opened. But there are still delays because there is a queue of trains waiting to go through.
