Her accomplishment is incredible, capping off a brilliant grass court season which included winning singles and doubles at the Berlin Open warmup tournament. Years of practice, rigorous discipline, blood, sweat, and tears went into this achievement.
However, I personally don’t want to hear her tell Tennis Channel to let her get drunk at the conclusion of a heartfelt interview.
Noskova joins WTA World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka as telling the tennis media of her intention to get drunk . Sabalenka’s plan was for a very different reason, after her premature Wimbledon defeat.

While they deserve the opportunity to revel in the highs and seek comfort in the lows, it is not clear if the general public needs all of the details.
I am conflicted because I genuiunely love Noskova as a person and player, but I don’t think this is what young Czech kids need to hear from her. For better or worse, Charles Barkley’s voice is in my ears saying that athletes are not role models adding to my confusion.
Remember the uproar a few months ago when Amanda Anisimova did a boozy ad, and there was a concern about tennis players promoting alcoholism. I thought that was a reach given how endorsements are an important part of their earnings.
It is a tightrope, one of many, athletes and tennis stars have to walk.
