Miss Monique returns for second Hï Ibiza summer residency

Ukrainian DJ Miss Monique is returning to Hï Ibiza for a second 18-week residency, a move that highlights how the island’s club economy serves as a launchpad for independent European labels amid the ongoing displacement of artists by war.

Ukrainian DJ Miss Monique is returning to Hï Ibiza’s Club Room for a second season this summer, backed by the venue operator Night League.

An 18-week residency at a flagship Ibiza club remains one of the most valuable assets in the European electronic music industry. For Miss Monique, the opportunity allows her to blend genres from melodic techno to house while leveraging the foot traffic of Europe’s premier nightlife destination to build her own enterprise, Siona Records.

Each of her Thursday shows this season features one artist from her Siona Records roster alongside a main guest. Acts like Volkoder, Glowal, and Paradoks will open the nights, giving the independent label direct exposure to the international crowds that drive the island's summer economy.

The commercial weight of the residency is reflected in its guest list. Pete Tong, Adam Beyer, Benny Benassi, Joris Voorn, and Nora En Pure are among the headliners sharing the bill, while French DJ HUGEL anchors the Theatre room. High-profile appearances, such as David Guetta unexpectedly joining her booth last season and a recent track release with Afrojack, underscore the networking value of the Ibiza circuit.

Her ascent to this level was accelerated in 2022 after a chance meeting with David Guetta in Miami led to regular spots at his Future Rave nights. Night League owner Yann Pissenem eventually offered her the standalone residency, a moment she said made her hands shake and changed her career.

Her professional trajectory, however, is inextricably linked to the continent’s geopolitical turmoil. Miss Monique, born Olesia Arkusha, left Ukraine shortly after Russia’s invasion in February 2022 and now lives in Lisbon. She will spend the entire summer in Ibiza, flying out on weekends for major European festivals, including a special show at Tomorrowland in July.

"Since the first day when Russia attacked my country, I’ve felt bad about this every day. I will never feel better until this horrible war is no longer happening," she said. She continues to channel her platform into direct aid, using proceeds from charity gigs to purchase equipment like bulletproof vests for Ukrainian soldiers.
