Trump Media to sell fast data feed to algorithmic traders

Trump Media to sell fast data feed to algorithmic traders

Donald Trump’s media company will offer financial firms millisecond access to his platform’s market-moving posts, raising fresh concerns over presidential monetisation and altering how global traders react to US political news.

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) announced on Thursday it is launching Truth API, a paid service delivering posts from the platform’s “most influential accounts” directly to financial institutions. The feed will transmit data “in milliseconds”, eliminating the need for manual monitoring of the social network.

The product is specifically designed for high-frequency and algorithmic trading firms that rely on speed. While TMTG did not specify which accounts are included, it described the content as the platform’s “most market-moving Truths” and noted that “markets already move on Truth Social posts”. Subscribers will not receive posts before they appeared publicly on Truth Social; they simply get a machine-readable application programming interface to process them faster than humans.

For European investors and transatlantic trading desks, this service addresses a real structural gap. Donald Trump’s statements on tariffs, diplomacy, and fiscal policy frequently trigger immediate volatility in European equities, bonds, and currency markets. An automated feed allows institutional customers to respond more quickly to information affecting stocks, bonds, and interest rates without the delay of human parsing. European algorithmic trading firms, competing against American counterparts, will likely face pressure to subscribe to avoid being disadvantaged by fractions of a second.

The commercialisation of this speed raises fresh questions about Trump monetising the presidency. As Truth Social’s best-known user and the largest shareholder in its publicly traded parent company, Trump effectively stands to profit from the intense market scrutiny of his own words.

Truth API is slated to launch on 1 August 2026. The company stated the service will run continuously, 24 hours a day, and will include a historical archive of posts dating back to 2022. TMTG claimed that customers had already signed up ahead of the launch and that it was onboarding additional partners.

Providing direct data feeds to institutional traders is not unique to Truth Social. Other social media platforms, like X, provide similar access to their platforms. However, the direct intertwining of a sitting US president's primary communication channel with a paid financial product represents a new frontier in the relationship between political power and market infrastructure.
