Arca premieres new album in Barcelona livestream backed by Feeld investment
The avant-garde producer’s upcoming album launch featured a high-budget Barcelona livestream funded by lifestyle brand Feeld, signalling a growing corporate appetite for sponsoring experimental European cultural projects.
Avant-garde producer Arca premiered new music from her upcoming album ‘XXXXX’ during a two-hour livestream broadcast from an abandoned factory in Barcelona last Thursday. The event, directed by Daniel Sannwald, was streamed live on Twitch and YouTube ahead of the record’s 31 July release via XL Recordings.
The production highlights a shifting landscape in how experimental art is funded and distributed across Europe. By securing direct investment from lifestyle brand Feeld, the project demonstrates how non-traditional corporate sponsors are increasingly underwriting high-budget cultural events that bypass conventional media channels.
Arca explicitly acknowledged this financial backing, stating: “With Feeld’s support and investment, we’re able to put on a show for you with full glam and budget.” She added: “Thank you for supporting experimental art. Please tune in. We’re working really hard to create a great show for you, wherever you are.”
The Barcelona-based transmission offered a first glimpse of the 16-track album, which Arca has described as darker, more aggressive and more experimental than her previous work. The performance featured elaborate renditions of tracks including ‘Willow’, ‘Taconeando’ and ‘Grip’.
During back-to-back performances of ‘Fxck’ and ‘Finisher’, the artist smeared paint and synthetic blood across a canvas. Sannwald, who has previously directed visuals for Beyoncé, SZA and Travis Scott, brought high-profile production value to the independent release.
This release marks Arca’s first new music since her ‘Kick’ pentalogy concluded in 2021. Beyond music, the artist has expanded her commercial and cultural footprint across Europe, recently holding her first painting exhibition at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts.
The momentum continues with upcoming cross-border cultural engagements. Arca is scheduled to join Björk for a solar eclipse day rave on 12 August in Iceland, alongside acts such as Sideproject and Ronja Jóhannsdóttir.
Such high-profile collaborations and brand-backed livestreams illustrate a viable economic model for avant-garde artists. They can now leverage digital platforms and corporate partnerships to maintain creative control while scaling their productions to a global audience.
