Just Penelope Announce Debut EP Great Lake: Hear “After”

Fire Talk's Angel Tapes imprint is a reliable source of promising acts, like Shower Curtain and Sleeper's Bell. Bloomington's Just Penelope are the newest signees, and their explosive, catchy brand of shoegaze is instantly enticing, or at least it is on today's single "After" from their just-announced debut EP Great Lake .

Just Penelope are Ella Curiel on guitar and vocals; Ethan Cantrell on percussion, synth, and vocals; Theo Erz on guitar; and Drew Goforth on bass. They cite bands like Interpol and Deerhunter as influences, and Great Lake is self-produced. "It's hugely important to us not just how good a part is," Curiel says, "but how we can use a microphone to record it and get a cool sound out of the instrument. How can we blend everything in a beautiful way?"

Indeed, the sounds swirling around "After" are beautiful. The track comes with a music video helmed by Keegan Priest and Isaac Sanchez. Watch it below.
