Steve Lacy Seemingly Spoils Spider-Man: Brand New Day On Red Carpet Livestream

Spider-Man: Brand New Day , the fourth Spider-Man film to star Tom Holland and the official 38th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will officially hit theaters this Friday. The film held its premiere Monday night at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, where Steve Lacy was present because his song "oh yeah?" (from his mostly excellent new album of the same name) is in the movie. Producers may regret the decision to involve him.

Sadie Sink, who once starred in a Taylor Swift video and helped Kate Bush go viral on Stranger Things , is in Brand New Day . Her role has been kept under wraps, but Lacy seemingly revealed who she's playing in a red carpet interview at the premiere. Actually, the carpet was blue, but you get the idea. I'm going to get into potential spoilers soon, so close the tab now if you don't want to know.

OK, let's get to it. On the blue carpet, an interviewer asked Lacy which character he was most excited to see in the movie. She specifically asked him to do so without sharing spoilers. "I like Jean," Lacy answered. "She’s the villain but there’s a reason to her madness." The reporter then asked Lacy if he'd shared a spoiler, to which he replied, "I like her. I like her character. I don’t know why."

It did not take long for viewers to theorize that Jean means X-Men 's Jean Grey and that Sink is playing her. If this is true, as it seems to be, the world would have found out soon enough. But damn, Steve Lacy! MCU viewers like my colleague Tom Breihan (who opted out of writing this post so he wouldn't be spoiled) deserve some fun surprises in their lives.
