AI insurance startup Corgi to open 24-hour founder cafe in London

The San Francisco-based firm is expanding its physical footprint to Shoreditch, signaling continued investor confidence in London’s resurgent tech ecosystem.

San Francisco-based AI insurance startup Corgi is launching a 24-hour cafe in London. The new venue will be located on Great Eastern Street in Shoreditch and is scheduled to operate around the clock from mid-August. The expansion was confirmed by the startup’s London-based community lead.

This marks the company’s first physical expansion outside the United States. Corgi currently operates two similar venues in San Francisco and Atlanta. These existing locations serve as regular gathering spaces for founders, investors and technology operators to network.

The London location will feature startup-themed menu items tailored specifically to the local ecosystem. This includes a beverage named the ‘ElevenLatte’. The drink is designed as a direct homage to ElevenLabs, the prominent London-based voice AI decacorn.

Corgi has recently attracted significant attention and capital in the global venture market. The company was valued at $4bn last week. This valuation followed its third funding round completed in a span of just eight weeks.

Beyond its financial metrics, the firm has generated widespread discussion for its unconventional internal policies. It previously gained notoriety across the Atlantic for implementing a strict seven-day work week. This approach has made it a highly visible player in the broader tech sector.

The arrival of this high-profile American tech firm underscores the renewed momentum of the British capital’s startup scene. London-based technology companies raised close to €17bn in the first half of 2026. This demonstrates a robust appetite for risk among backers of European innovation.

This recent fundraising figure represents an increase of more than 50 per cent compared to the €10bn collected during the same period the previous year. Such sharp year-on-year growth indicates that international founders and investors remain highly confident in the city's long-term commercial viability.
