Nieve Ella dates debut album for October 16 and unveils 2026 UK headline tour
The alt-pop singer has confirmed her first full-length record, an 11-track exploration of mental health and self-doubt, alongside her biggest run of UK shows to date.
Nieve Ella will release her debut album, 'How Long Will It Take?', on October 16, pairing the announcement with a 2026 UK headline tour that will see her play venues she previously only accessed as a support act. The record follows three EPs and arrives four years after she began putting out music.
The 11-track set includes the singles 'Drive' and 'Bite Back', as well as 'Standing On A Pane Of Glass', a song Ella has described as written at her "lowest low". She said the project took shape over nearly two years of writing, but only crystallised thematically at the end of last summer, when she recognised that her own mental health struggles had to sit at its centre.
"It's been a long journey," Ella said. "I've been releasing music for four years now, so I've got to this point now where I'm so ready to cement what my sound is and what I want to say."
Therapy in the studio
Ella, now 22, said she was undergoing therapy concurrently with recording sessions, using each to inform the other. She described the process as turning everything in her head into 11 songs, calling the result "really fucking cool". The album's title captures the self-doubt she associates with navigating identity and self-worth through one's twenties.
She framed the decision to foreground vulnerability as a rejection of curated online personas. "The world is crumbling day by day, time goes so fast, and it's easy to get lost in it all, so we might as well just be open and honest," she said. "Really, all we've got is emotions and experiences in life, so let's just talk about them and realise it's OK to cry."
A bigger sound
Musically, Ella signalled a step up in scale. She said writing 'Drive' unlocked a willingness to move beyond guitar-led arrangements and experiment with whatever instruments were in the room. "This is the debut album, after all," she said. "I wanted for it to sound like it was this massive fucking theatre piece."
She originally considered the title 'Tender And Teeth' to capture the record's split between vulnerability and defiance, and noted that the tracklist's first half leans tougher while the second half shifts in tone. A recurring staircase motif draws on the closing scene of The Truman Show, representing both entrapment and spiritual continuity.
Tour built on support-slot lessons
The accompanying UK tour will see Ella headline venues she first played while supporting Inhaler, Wolf Alice and Yungblud. She also appeared at Yungblud's Bludfest festival, an invitation she linked to their shared management and to what she called his commitment to letting fans "be themselves".
Ella said she wants the upcoming shows to feel like a theatrical narrative rather than a standard set. "I want to create it like this theatre thing where when you leave you can say 'That was insane. I feel so connected and I feel like there was a story told there,'" she said.
For European audiences tracking the UK's alt-pop pipeline, the release positions Ella as one of the genre's most visible new voices moving from support circuits to headline status in a single cycle.
