British television presenter Rochelle Humes and her family celebrated her sister’s 30th birthday at the Lio nightclub in Ibiza on Thursday. The group arrived via a chartered private jet, marking a lavish weekend of European nightlife that sharply contrasts with the presenter's recent warnings about urban security in the United Kingdom.
Humes, 37, wore a £75 bright blue cut-out minidress from Jaded London and £995 embellished Roberto Cavalli heels for the occasion. The celebrations were a gift for her younger sister Lili, who was also treated to a Chanel handbag and surprised with the flight to Spain by her partner.
The high-end Mediterranean trip illustrates how luxury consumption and the display of personal wealth are increasingly shifting away from the UK capital. For European hospitality venues and luxury fashion houses, this migration secures vital spending from wealthy British visitors who no longer feel secure displaying their assets at home.
Humes voiced these severe concerns on her podcast, Ladies Who Launch, describing the environment as "Lawless London." She claimed she is "too scared to wear anything nice" and argued that the security situation has deteriorated to the point where "you can't wear a Rolex in London any more."
Her remarks align with rising street crime statistics in the British capital, particularly regarding phone snatching. Reports published in March indicated that a mobile phone is stolen in London every nine minutes, with tens of thousands taken last year alone.
Official records show more than 224,000 mobile devices stolen in the capital over the past four years. Because many incidents go unrecorded, the true scale of the theft epidemic is even larger, reinforcing the desire of wealthy individuals to spend their money abroad.
Despite her stated fears of wearing luxury items in public, Humes continues to display immense personal wealth while travelling internationally. During a high-profile trip to Miami earlier this year with her husband Marvin and sister Sophie, she was photographed wearing a vast collection of high-end jewellery.
The accessories worn in the United States were valued at an estimated £442,589. The display included a £300,000 engagement ring, a £70,000 Bvlgari Serpenti Tubogas watch, and Cartier bangles costing a combined £68,300.
Her Miami collection also featured a £3,780 Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet and a £499 Oura ring. The Ibiza celebration followed a month-long stay in America, with the group enjoying a magnum of Whispering Angel and partying into the early hours alongside partners including Joshua Ritchie.
