Where can you charge your phone for free in Vienna parks?

Vienna has added free public charging points to four parks, with another on the way. And they aren't the only places where you can top up your battery outdoors.

Running low on phone battery while you're out in Vienna? There are now several parks where you can plug in or charge wirelessly without paying.

The City of Vienna has installed new public "Power Stations" at four locations, according to a city announcement.

Another is planned for Forschneritschpark in the 15th district, but the city hasn't announced an exact opening date for that one.

The charging points have been installed in frequently used areas near facilities such as playgrounds and skate ramps. More good news: you don't necessarily need to bring a charging cable either.

The stations support USB-A and USB-C connections, as well as wireless charging (but your phone or tablet would need to support it). The stations are attached to existing street-light poles and marked with large signs to make them easier to spot.

The proposal came through Vienna's Kinder- und Jugendmillion, a city participation programme in which children and young people submit ideas for improvements to Vienna and vote on which projects should be implemented.

The four new Power Stations aren't Vienna's only option for charging a device in a park.

The city also has ten Park-Working stations , outdoor work areas equipped with solar-powered charging facilities for mobile devices. They're free to use and also offer free Wi-Fi.

The Park-Working stations have outdoor furniture and charging facilities, while the new Power Stations are mounted on light poles.

Together, the two schemes currently provide free charging at 14 locations across Vienna. Forschneritschpark will make 15 once its station is installed.
