Mr. and Mrs. Spider-Man are back on the job. Power couple Tom Holland and Zendaya hit the red carpet in matching outfits at the Madrid photo call for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Zendaya unveiled a series of web-themed outfits on the last Spider-tour, nearly single-handedly kicking off the theme-dressing trend. She appears to have retired the tactic, although it’s still early days on this tour.
This is very nice; stylish, dressy, but with the informality that we think he tends to prefer. The red shirt has us raising a collective eyebrow and we’re hoping he doesn’t wind up dressing in Spider-colors, but we’re not going to make an issue of it if the pieces look as good as this. We just don’t like the buttons. Hey, we have to quibble over something or they don’t pay us.
Given our longstanding dislike of fringe and tricky skirts, it may surprise you to hear that we actually kind of love this on her. It’s giving flamenco, which is probably deliberate, given the setting as well as her stylist Law Roach’s predilection for theme-dressing. The hair is what sells it, as far as we’re concerned. The earrings are cute. The black pumps are meh, but we’re thrilled that she resisted the urge to make them red.
ABOUT THE MOVIE: After the record-breaking global success of SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME, SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city, a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
