Man City consider options after bumper Gakpo bid rejected

Man City consider options after bumper Gakpo bid rejected

Man City are exploring alternatives after Liverpool rejected their £80m bid for Cody Gakpo.

Man City consider options after Liverpool reject £80m bid Cody Gakpo; City interested in Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, who is in advanced talks with Tottenham; City allowed Savio and Omar Marmoush to join Tottenham this month, and Jack Grealish is of interest to Everton and Sunderland

Liverpool have rejected an £80m offer from Manchester City for winger Cody Gakpo, with City turning their attention to Everton's Iliman Ndiaye .

Sky Sports News understands Liverpool were concerned about their chances of bringing in a replacement for the Dutchman.

As things stand, they are unwilling to let him leave in this transfer window - which then brought City back into play for Ndiaye.

Discussions are moving swiftly after City were knocked back for Gakpo, with Spurs having previously established a fee of £60m with Everton for Ndiaye and contact already established between City and Everton over Jack Grealish.

Everton are believed to be Grealish's preferred destination. He also has interest from Sunderland. Manchester City want to sign a wide forward and a central midfielder before the window closes.

Manchester City allowed Savio and Omar Marmoush to join Tottenham earlier month, reducing Enzo Maresca's options on the wing.

City did not name a winger on their bench in Friday's win over Crystal Palace and started with Phil Foden - who Enzo Maresca admitted is not a winger - out wide at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool signed Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain on Monday while Victor Munoz arrived from Osasuna earlier this summer.

Spurs also targeted Gakpo in this window before signing Savio and Marmoush.
