Fake Names confirms 2027 European tour and third studio album
The punk rock supergroup will release its third album through Epitaph this October before embarking on a ten-date European club circuit that underscores the enduring viability of the independent live music sector.
Punk rock supergroup Fake Names has released the lyric video for "Until It’s Normal," the lead single from its upcoming third studio album, Punk Ruins. The record is scheduled for release on October 23 through the independent label Epitaph.
The five-piece outfit comprises veteran musicians Dennis Lyxzén, Brian Baker, Michael Hampton, Johnny Temple, and newly added drummer Mario Rubalcaba. Their collaboration bridges decades of underground music history, bringing together members from established acts including Refused, Bad Religion, and Minor Threat.
The album was recorded at the late Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio facility in Chicago under the production of Matthew Barnhart. The band adopted a highly efficient production model, completing the entire twelve-track record in just five days.
Guitarist Brian Baker noted that vocalist Dennis Lyxzén tracked all his vocal parts in a single day. "We recorded 12 songs in five days, and all of them are on the album," Baker stated, highlighting the financial and logistical benefits of rigorous preparation in the modern recording industry.
He explained that the band members utilized their home setups to refine their parts before entering the studio. "One of the advantages of us all working at home is there's plenty of time to figure out what you're going to do," Baker said, noting he sent pre-arranged solos to Hampton to tweak.
Beyond studio efficiencies, the release signals a significant boost for the European live music venue circuit in early 2027. The band has scheduled a ten-date tour across the continent, providing vital revenue and foot traffic to independent clubs in major cultural hubs.
The itinerary begins in Sweden on January 26 at Stage Umeå, followed by a performance at Glazart in Paris on January 28. The tour will then move through Germany with stops in Cologne, Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin, before concluding with dates in Milan, Ljubljana, Vienna, and London.
Punk Ruins will feature twelve tracks, including Good Old Days, Diamond Buzz, and the title track Punk Ruins. The efficient recording process ensures that every song captured during the Chicago sessions made the final cut for the European and global market.
