New 450-capacity club space to open in Manchester, Locker

A brand new 450-capacity nightclub space is opening within New Century Manchester next month, named Locker .

Locker will open for the first time in October, welcoming its first club season with the likes of Nooriyah, Paranoid London, DJ Subaru and more across its opening weekend from October 2 - 3.

It takes over a room within the existing music venue, bar and kitchen New Century Manchester, which sits just a stone’s throw from Victoria Station in the city centre.

Dubbed a "new grassroots incubator", Locker aims to create a community-focused space where established and up-and-coming artists meet.

"Manchester has always had the massive dancefloors, and the tiny ones too," New Century Manchester said in an announcement post on Instagram on Wednesday, September 2.

"We’re dancing right in the middle," they said. "We’re expanding beyond our live music roots to bring you a dedicated, razor-sharp club programme running late into the night."

The first season at Locker will run until December 11, welcoming the likes of Manuka Honey, Two Shell, Logic1000, IZCO, Soichi Terada, Bimini, Jyoty, Y U QT and Heidi over the coming months.

Locker will feature a "bespoke dividing wall" to ensure "pristine audio" for both its live music space and club room, enlisting audio specialists Adlib to engineer the room’s sound and fitting a full L-Acoustics system in the space.

"Locker aims to reimagine our ground floor in a way that enables us to dive into our acid house roots, support even more grassroots talent as well as providing independent hospitality for which New Century is known and loved," says New Century Managing Director Abby Mudge.
