Serato DJ 5.0 adds “intuitive beatgrid technology”, Lucid Beatgrids
The latest update of the brand's flagship software is now available in public beta
Serato DJ has announced its most "accurate, aware and customisable beatgrid engine" yet as part of Serato DJ 5.0.
Now in public beta, the latest software from the New Zealand tech giant adds several improvements, offering an update on Serato DJ 4.0, which launched in late 2025 , including new “intuitive beatgrid technology”, Lucid Beatgrids.
The updated beatgrid engion automatically detects fluctuating BPMs during track analysis, meaning less manual editing, as well as offering better customisation due to its new Flexible and improved Fixed modes.
Various other improvements include Open Streaming, letting you work from multiple streaming platforms simultaneously that appear as individual crates. The library now also displays BPMs and key data for streaming tracks before analysis.
Another new feature for Pro users is Cue Loops, where you can save loops as cue points. Find out more and download Serato DJ 5.0 in public beta here .
Last year's Serato DJ 4.0 added a new Track Rating feature that allows you to customise with an emoji of your choice, Spotify Premium streaming support, and "a significant redesign of its interface".
Also in 2025, Canadian tech investment firm Tiny acquired a majority stake, 66%, of Serato in a $66m deal. In the run-up to the sale, Pioneer DJ’s parent company AlphaTheta had its sights set on acquiring the company, but the New Zealand Commerce Commission blocked the acquisition in June 2024 on the grounds of “lessening competition ” in the DJ space.
