Fatima Al Qadiri announces new Hyperdub EP, ‘3TWI’, shares single: Listen
The new EP pays tribute to West Asian folk dance music with explorations of gender identity, queer culture, and the ethnic makeup of the region
Fatima Al Qadiri has lined up her next EP, ‘3TWI’, for release on 9th October via Hyperdub.
‘3TWI (عتوي)’ continues Al Qadiri’s exploration of West Asian folk dance music, gender identity, queer culture, and the diverse ethnic makeup of the region, with contributions from regular collaborators Bobo Secret, Lama3an and Gumar. Pre-order the EP via Bandcamp .
The announcement comes with new single, ‘7ilween’, which translates to “pretty young things”. The new track, which features Bobo Secret and Lama3an, comes with a video directed by Sophia Al-Maria, produced by NG Partners and shot between London and Baghdad. You can watch that below.
An extended version of the video will be projected in several international art institutions throughout 2027. Details of those screenings will be announced in the coming months.
The new EP is Al Qadiri’s second EP on Hyperdub since returning to the label with the ‘ Gumar ’ EP in 2023. The intervening years have seen her score soundtracks for several films, ‘Skincare’, ‘Seaking Mavis Beacon’, ‘La Abuela’ and ‘L’etranger’.
