Noisia announce reunion and first live show in four years
“Combining our forces again feels incredibly exciting now,” the trio said in a statement announcing their return
Noisia have announced their return to the stage, along with new music on the way.
The Dutch drum & bass trio’s comeback comes seven years after they first announced plans to disband , and four years after their final show at Lowlands in August 2022. The performance came after pandemic-related disruption, with the group also releasing their final album, ‘Closer’, that same year. They played their final UK show at London’s Printworks in December 2021.
The group are set to mark their return with a show at Amsterdam’s Melkweg on 4th December, with further dates set to be announced soon. The venue also holds a place in Noisia’s history, having hosted the final Amsterdam edition of their Noisia Invites series during their farewell run.
Writing on Instagram, Noisia said their initial decision to split in 2019 came amid creative differences and that they had no intention at the time to return to the project after their final show. However, the trio continued to work on solo projects from the same building and retained their respective studios in a shared space.
Having grown more closely connected again, they said: “Memories of joy, beauty and mutual respect started to outweigh the shadows of the past. Mentioning Noisia had lost its heaviness... Conversations followed of what working together again could look and sound like, and plans for new material started to form.”
The group continued: “We started making music together again. That in turn made us crave the excitement of the stage, and the feeling of sharing our music with crowds.”
The Melkweg show, along with the other dates to follow, will draw on Noisia’s back catalogue while also showcasing newer material they have been working on. The trio say audience feedback from these performances will help shape and refine the tracks ahead of any official releases, meaning it could still be some time before the new music arrives.
