London’s long-running listening bar Spiritland is set to open a brand new venue inside the Barbican later this month in celebration of its 10-year anniversary.
Spiritland At The Barbican will open its doors on October 20 at the famed performing arts centre, and will be a temporary fixture, closing in July 2027.
The hi-fi space will open from Tuesdays to Sundays with a capacity of 100, located on Level 2 of the Barbican, hosting listening sessions, supper clubs, talks and album playbacks.
The listening bar is fitted with a custom Living Voice soundsystem and two R252 loudspeakers, as well as a range of high-end audio equipment.
Each day at 5:PM, an album will be selected to be played in full, while some weeks will be dedicated to a specific artist, Spiritland says, spotlighting a range of genres from jazz to classical, ambient to soul.
"Bringing Spiritland to the Barbican Centre is a dream," says Spiritland co-founder Sophie Uddin. "It’s a unique mix of adventurous programming across all art forms; the audience, the Lakeside Room, and of course the building itself are all unbeatable."

Spiritland At The Barbican will also mirror the Barbican’s cultural programming, coinciding with the arts centre’s offerings with a spread of music and food-focused events.
The food menu comes from the hospitality professionals behind London restaurants Lardo, Smoking Goat, Milroys and St. John, with a focus on European and Japanese drinks.
"The Lakeside Room at the Barbican is a stunning space for us to go even deeper into the music we love on an outrageously high end soundsystem," says Spiritland co-founder Paul Noble. "We couldn’t be more excited."
