Mauricio Tapia, the man who makes music as Los Retros, has been charged with four felony counts of unlawful acts with a child under the age of 10. He also faces several special allegations, including that the victim was vulnerable and that he took advantage of a position of trust, according to Siskiyou Daily News .
The 26-year-old musician was arrested on Oct. 8 and booked into Ventura County jail the following day with bail set at $3 million. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 22. His label Stones Throw shared a statement saying he would no longer be playing at their festival and they would no longer work with him:
Yesterday we learned of extremely serious and disturbing allegations against Mauri Tapia, professionally known as Los Retros.
We had previously announced the cancellation of his scheduled performance at Stones Throw 30 before we were aware of these circumstances.
In light of this information, we are taking steps to disassociate ourselves from Tapia and his work.
We take these allegations extremely seriously and will continue to assess the situation as more information becomes available.
