The doctor will see you now: Noah Wyle crowned People magazine's 2026 Sexiest Man Alive

The 55-year-old actor, best know for his roles in ER and The Pitt, has officially been named People's 2026 Sexiest Man Alive.

" Doctor, doctor, give me the news / I've got a bad case of loving you ..."

After causing countless viewers to swoon in the medical drama ER as Dr. John Carter and making everyone temporarily forget that the American public health care service is one of the most expensive nightmares in the world through his portrayal of Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch in HBO Max's celebrated series The Pitt , Noah Wyle has gone one step further.

The 55-year-old actor, director and producer has officially been named People's 2026 Sexiest Man Alive.

In his People interview , Wyle said he was in disbelief when he got the news.

“I thought that sounded like a prank - just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me,” Wyle said. “I hope this changes everything. I hope it’s just wine and roses, milk and honey from here on out. [Laughs] No, I don’t, but I am going to take a lot of ribbing from friends and family for sure.”

He also shared in the interview that his biggest vice was his Instagram shopping habits, that he hates being late, has an irrational fear of maggots, and has "very, very fast hands".

Before more swooning occurs, he was referring to a secret talent for catching flies. Still impressive.

Wyle's performance in The Pitt has earned him various awards, including this year's Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series, Drama, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including Outstanding Lead Actor in 2025 and 2026) and two Writer Guild of America Awards this year.

Season 3 of the medical drama is set to premiere in January 2027.

Launched in 1985 and won that year by Mel Gibson, the Sexiest Man Alive contest marks its 41st year. Wyle succeeds Wicked and Jurassic World Rebirth star Jonathan Bailey, who was the first openly gay man to receive the title last year .

He joins past winners including Patrick Dempsey, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Idris Elba, George Clooney and Harrison Ford.

The People edition with Wyle's cover story will be out on 9 November.
