HWXXNG releases new album, ‘K-Core’, on CHINABOT: Listen

HWXXNG, AKA Seoul-born, Berlin-based artist Jaeho Hwang has released a new album.
Out now on CHINABOT, ‘K-Core' weaves ancestral sounds and samples like 'Samdo Nongak Garak' (the three-province farmers’ percussion suite) and kkwaenggwari hand-gong into driving techno. Opening track and "manifesto" 'Neo K-Core' is brought to life by a video, which you can see below.

Hwang released his first EP, ‘Non-self 비자아’, on Chinabot back in 2019 and has spent recent years developing what he calls K-Core/Asian-Core, his unique sound palette that brings traditional Korean instrumentation such as shamanic jing gongs into conversation with techno and other electronic styles.
His sophomore release, ‘Inner-self’ , came out on CHINABOT in June 2022 and was also built around Buddhist themes. The EP was was accompanied by a video for ‘Betweeness/사이\’ that married archive footage of early 20th-century Seoul life with clips from Hwang’s own life.
