Arsenal secure 19-year-old German forward Lisa Baum from RB Leipzig

Arsenal have completed the signing of teenage German forward Lisa Baum from RB Leipzig, marking the English club’s fifth summer addition as it continues to invest strategically in elite women’s football talent.

Arsenal have finalized a permanent transfer for German forward Lisa Baum from RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old attacker joins the London club on a three-year contract that includes an option for a further twelve months.

Baum arrives after a single season in the Frauen-Bundesliga, where she recorded six goals across 26 appearances for Leipzig. Prior to that move last summer, she spent three years at Hamburger SV. During her time there, she helped the team achieve two promotions to reach Germany’s top flight, netting 21 goals in 68 total matches since beginning her career in 2021.

On the international stage, the forward has steadily progressed through Germany’s youth ranks, representing the country from the under-17 level up to the under-23 squad. At Arsenal, she will wear the number 19 shirt. This makes her the team’s fifth new recruit during the current summer transfer window.

Strategic Squad Building

This acquisition underscores a broader trend among top European clubs to consolidate their investment in women’s football by securing high-potential youth talent early. By targeting a player with a proven developmental trajectory in the competitive German league, Arsenal is reinforcing its attacking depth for upcoming campaigns. Such moves reflect the growing financial and sporting stakes in the women's game, where early identification of talent is becoming a key market advantage.

Arsenal manager Renee Slegers emphasized the tactical value of the addition, stating, "Lisa is a young wide forward who will bring direct intent and athleticism to our attacking group." She noted that at 19, Baum is still developing, but "we believe she has huge potential, which we will support her to achieve." The manager concluded by welcoming her to the club and looking forward to the road ahead together.

Baum expressed enthusiasm about her transition to English football, noting, "I'm so happy to join Arsenal and I can't wait to get started." She highlighted that the league is highly competitive, making her excited to challenge herself and compete with the best. The forward concluded that she wants to win trophies and develop her game, adding that "Arsenal feels like the perfect match to achieve that."
