Dylan UK tour extends Yondr's grip on live music market

Dylan UK tour extends Yondr's grip on live music market

Bob Dylan’s upcoming UK tour will again use Yondr phone-locking pouches, signaling the tech firm's expanding footprint in the live events sector.

Bob Dylan has announced a ten-date UK tour for November and December, once again partnering with tech firm Yondr to enforce phone-free performances.

The 85-year-old artist’s decision to use Yondr highlights a growing operational trend in the live music sector. The company’s technology requires ticket holders to lock their smartphones and cameras into sealed pouches for the duration of the concert. Fans must leave the venue's phone-free zone to access their devices.

For artists and promoters, this system offers a method to control the unauthorised distribution of live content and maintain exclusivity around their shows. Since its launch in 2020, Yondr has scaled its presence in the market. The firm’s technology is now deployed by major acts including Jack White, Guns N' Roses, Alicia Keys and Ghost, who adopted the pouches for their 2025 world tour.

The UK tour represents a significant logistical undertaking, coming shortly after Dylan overhauled his touring personnel. Guitarist Doug Lancio, who joined in 2021, left last month and was followed two weeks later by Bob Britt, who joined in 2019. They have been replaced by jazz guitarist Julian Lage, Memphis-based R&B musician Jad Tariq, and Chicago-based roots and blues guitarist Joel Patterson.

Dylan is currently navigating a lengthy North American run, with upcoming shows in Boston, New York, Atlanta and Nashville through early August. The European leg will follow later in the year. The schedule begins at the BIC Windsor Hall in Bournemouth on November 25, moving to Birmingham, Sheffield and Blackpool.

The run will climax with five nights at London’s Royal Festival Hall from December 3 to December 8, with promoter and venue presales opening on July 20 at 10am local time. General sales will follow on July 22.
