Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Affray, Faces Three Years in Prison

Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray related to a violent incident that took place in a London nightclub in 2023.

Alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a.k.a. Hoody Baby, Brown stands accused of assaulting producer Amadou Diaw in an attack characterized by the prosecution as unprovoked, which allegedly resulted in both men stomping on Diaw during the altercation. Diaw had previously filed a civil suit seeking $16 million in damages alongside the criminal case, but dropped it in 2025.

Both men initially pleaded not guilty to the original charges but entered guilty pleas on Friday (July 24) to the lesser charge of affray after prosecutors agreed to drop the more serious charges.

Brown was arrested in May 2025 and initially charged with assault, suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon (allegedly a tequila bottle), all occurrences stemming from the 2023 incident.

Brown admitted he "used or threatened unlawful violence towards another and their conduct taken together was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness ... to fear for their personal safety."

Sentencing is scheduled for September 26 in the UK. Brown faces a maximum of three years in prison.

Brown is scheduled to perform alongside Usher at Toronto's Rogers Stadium next month. Guess we'll see about that!
