Harry Styles wants you to know he’s been to Berghain

The British singer hit the streets of New York in a ‘TECHNO IS MY BOYFRIEND’ baseball cap

This week, Harry Styles crash landed in New York City to start his sold-out, 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden. With the shows due to begin tonight and stretching out until Halloween, Styles used his final hours as a free man to amble around the city, and piqued our attention, as he often does, with his casual style. While on the European leg of his Together, Together tour, the singer and his stylist Harry Lambert dashed through a carousel of kaleidoscopic tailoring from Celine , Prada , Calvin Klein and more. Now, in his down time, the 32-year-old singer has gone for something more pared back, but still in the David Byrnian tradition he’s been adhering to recently: high-waisted billowing suit slacks, leather oxblood shoes, and an oversized white shirt, sans tie and French-tucked on one side.

Going incognito in dark, wraparound shades, Styles also wanted to let us know that he’s been shopping in the new boyfriend section of the store, popping on a baseball cap with ‘TECHNO IS MY BOYFRIEND’ stitched into the front, taken from London-based bookshop and clothing brand IDEA (we get it, you’ve been to Berghain, Haz). And last but not least, Styles completed the look with every metropolitan softboi’s favourite accessory: a pair of partially-tangled wired Apple earphones.

Also spotted out and about in New York on the very same day was, unsurprisingly, Styles’ fiancée, the actor Zoë Kravitz . Opting for Daisy Dukes and a black silk cami, we couldn’t help but notice some sartorial alignment happening, despite the couple’s physically disparate pap shots. A sense of curated nonchalance is something Styles and Kravitz both share in their approach to self-styling, and it was on display here in the muted tones, simple palette and perfect undoneness of their casual daywear. I guess it also helps to look like a movie star, too.
