Chase & Status announce new album, ‘Generic Everything’, share ‘Gone Too Far’ video: Watch

Chase & Status have revealed details of their forthcoming album, ‘Generic Everything’, alongside the release of their latest single, ‘Gone Too Far’. You can watch the video for the track below.

The new album arrives on 2nd October and boasts collaborations with J Hus, Little Simz , Skrillex , Giggs, D Double E , Blanco , IRAH, Col3trane, Finessekid, Debbie, Saam Sultan and Ledbyher. Pre-orders for the album are available here .

Latest single, ‘Gone Too Far’ with Debbie, is a rowsing soulful D&B crossover built around the British-Nigerian singer’s transcendent vocals. It follows IRAH and J Hus collab ‘ Disgruntled ’, marking what the pair say is a new era for Chase & Status as they explore more genres, including rap, rave, D&B, sound system culture, dubstep and rock, with Chase & Status' Saul Milton playing much of the guitar parts himself.

Speaking on the album, Chase & Status shared: “‘Generic Everything’ is about resisting the pressure to become the same as everyone else.

“In a world shaped by AI, algorithms and endless content, creativity is constantly being pushed towards what’s familiar, safe and predictable.

“The cube is our symbol for that pressure; a place where original ideas are squeezed into the same shape.

“This album is about pushing back. Every song, visual and show is an attempt to break out of the cube and create something that feels genuinely different.

“The idea isn’t simply that creativity is trapped. It’s that it’s being forced to conform.”

This year saw Chase & Status release trio of hard-hitting D&B/rap hybrids, ‘ Through The Pain ’ with Croydon star-in-the-making Pozer, ‘ Doin It More ’ with road rap veteran Blade Brown, and ‘ Homework ’ with alt-rap frontrunner Lancey Foux.

The album wraps up an event festival season that saw them headline the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, make a surprise B2B appearance with Skrillex at Boomtown , deliver a knockout D&B and dubstep set on the Tomorrowland Main Stage in Belgium, and this weekend they’re headlining the Main Stage at Reading & Leeds.

On top of all of that, they also debuted their new SECTION 63 project, an immersive A/V live set-up that they’ve currently taken to London, Tilburg, and Perth, Australia.

Last year, the duo scored their first No. 1 single with ‘ BACKBONE ’ featuring Stormzy, which spent 15 weeks in the Top 10.

Watch Chase & Status pay tribute to Lenzman , the late label boss and founder of The North Quarter, at Let Roll Festival in Czechia.

In April, it was announced that Chase & Status will appear in the new James Bond video game , 007: First Light , playing a virtual DJ set, which you can watch here .
