Marie Davidson publishes debut poetry book, Traveler's Faith
The Montreal artist said, "Writing a poem is like creating a song. You cannot plan it, you have to wait and when it comes, you do it. There is no use in trying to be something other than what you are"
Marie Davidson has written her first book of poetry titled Traveler's Faith .
The Montreal artist's debut poetry collection is out now, published by Soulwax's DEEWEE in a 750-copy limited run. It contains 30 original poems and lyrics from her sixth and latest album, ' City of Clowns ', released in February 2025. In an Instagram post , she said she began writing the poetry book before the LP under the working title Deep Fried . When she revisited the writing after finishing the album, it became Traveler's Faith .
"It’s only words, but everything in there comes straight from the heart", she wrote on Instagram. "Some might recognize themselves in a poem, some might never know. Some might get the airport blues, some might feel the traveler’s high."
Traveler's Faith features photography by Nadine Fraczkowski and design by Giovanni Murolo.
"Writing a poem is like creating a song", Davidson said in a press statement. "You cannot plan it, you have to wait and when it comes, you do it. There is no use in trying to be something other than what you are... I write to process what is around me, to make something out of nothingness. Here, I share some of the thoughts I have gathered. I don’t have answers, only questions."
'City of Clowns' featured the singles ' Sexy Clown ' and ' Demolition '. In 2023, she contributed to Moderat's 'MORE D4TA' remix package alongside SHERELLE, Batu and DJ Lag.
