New AI app automates short-form video creation for SMEs
A new application called Reelful uses artificial intelligence to automatically generate social media videos from raw footage, a development that threatens to lower the barrier to digital marketing for small businesses.
A new iOS application named Reelful is using artificial intelligence to transform raw camera roll footage into polished short-form videos for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
The app was founded by Kate Deyneka, a former machine learning engineer at Snapchat. Users start by entering a text prompt describing their desired narrative, recording a 30-second voice clone, and selecting their photos and video clips. The software then independently plans the sequence, writes a script, generates an AI voiceover, and assembles the final cut with music, sound effects, and captions.
Reelful can even animate still images into video clips, though it applies a watermark to notify viewers that the media was generated by AI. Once the initial edit is complete, users can refine the output by chatting with the app to swap soundtracks or revise the script.
For European small and medium-sized enterprises, this type of technology addresses a persistent bottleneck. Deyneka specifically designed the tool for founders and business owners who need to maintain an active social media presence but lack the time to master traditional editing software.
“I want to post more on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, but video editing takes a lot of time, so much time that I do not even want to spend it because I have a lot of things going on in my life, especially now as an early-stage founder,” Deyneka said. “I have a lot of events, I meet a lot of interesting people, and this is what I see for all my founder friends: they have a very active life, especially right now when AI is booming, but we do not have time to edit. I see Reelful as a tool that can help people build their online presence and their personal brand.”
Shifting market dynamics
Reelful is part of a broader wave of startups, including Opus Clip and Captions, that are moving the industry away from manual creative tools toward autonomous AI agents. The company is currently backed by a16z’s Speedrun program.
The application monetizes its service through one-time purchases and monthly subscriptions. Bundles range from $15 for five videos to $90 for 33 videos. Subscription tiers cost between $25 and $100 per month, offering ten to 60 videos respectively.
“My target use case is that you went to an event or you met some cool people, and you recorded a short interview with them and while you are driving back home you just uploaded everything to the app, and by the time you’re home, the video is ready,” Deyneka said. “So I want to make it very effortless for people to share their life, their content, their expertise without actively editing or setting up the things on your laptop.”
Reelful is currently only available on Apple devices, though Android and web versions are planned. As these agentic tools scale globally, the cost of producing professional-grade marketing content is likely to drop significantly, forcing European companies to adapt their digital strategies accordingly.
