Former Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood charged with two further sexual assault offences

The Metropolitan Police have charged the disgraced former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood with two further sexual offences as part of an ongoing investigation.
Per a press release issued by the Met yesterday (22nd September), Westwood, 68, has been charged with indecent assault and sexual assault over two alleged incidents in London. One relates to a teenage girl aged 16 or 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991, while the other concerns an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in 2004.
Catherine P Baccas, the deputy chief crown prosecutor in CPS London, said: “Today the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised two further charges of sexual assault and indecent assault against Tim Westwood.
“Mr Westwood is already charged with nine counts of indecent assault, two counts of sexual assault and four counts of rape in relation to reported non-recent offences between 1983 and 2016 involving seven women.
“These new charges, following an investigation by the Metropolitan police, relate to separate reports of non-recent offences in 1991 and 2004 involving two additional women.
“Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring these additional charges to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue further criminal proceedings.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial.”
The court date for Westwood to face these additional charges has yet to be confirmed. A trial relating to the original 15 charges is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on Monday 25th January 2027.
These new charges are in addition to existing charges brought against Westwood in October 2025 , bringing the total number of charges against him to 17.
Westwood broadcast shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra for nearly 20 years before moving to Capital Xtra in 2013. He stepped down from his Capital Xtra show in April 2022 after being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women .
Within weeks of Westwood leaving Capital XTRA, the BBC admitted to receiving complaints about the DJ relating to bullying and sexual misconduct , despite previously denying it was aware of such complaints.
